Black Shoes, White Socks!
I simply adore everything about this. The Musical Differences did a cover of Lady Sovereign's song "Hoodie" for this genius YouTube channelhttp://www.youtube.com/user/indieghetto08 There are lots of other great indie acts covering songs that force them out of their comfort zone and into new genres which leads to interesting results.
Also, be sure to check out The Musical Differences' original work on their Myspace. One of my favorite songs is "Will Power." You may recognize one of the members, Rob Skipper, as a former member of The Holloways!

Maybe we need to start dreaming like kids again...
I think I'll let the lyrics speak for this song today.
What did you want to see?
What did you want to be when you grew up?
To go away and not look back and think of what the others say
To go ahead and change your life without regard to what is said
And everyone must do the same
you find yourself lost again
forget the things you've left behind
through looking back you may go blind
What did you want to be when you grew up?
To go away and not look back and think of what the others say
To go ahead and change your life without regard to what is said
And everyone must do the same
you find yourself lost again
forget the things you've left behind
through looking back you may go blind

Classic
Sometimes they just don't make 'em like they used to. Songs like this will never die. Check Bruce's guitar bit in the middle. It fits nicely.

If you've got a boyfriend well go kiss him.
I can't remember when I first heard about The Drums. I remember thinking ehhh they're alright after listening to a track. Lately, they've been getting a lot of attention from the media. Most music magazines say they're a band to watch this year. They've already scored a spot on the NME Shockwaves Tour, and are playing at SXSW. I'm not one to believe a band is good just because they're hyped by the media, but I thought I'd give them another listen. I don't think they're the next best band of the year, but tracks like "Saddest Summer" will definitely be blasting from my car in June.

you aren't allowed to say that you're better
I come back to this song a lot when I'm frustrated with someone. It's great to yell. Definitely makes me feel better. On a side note, The Cribs are a great band to see live. They put so much energy into their shows. I really appreciate that as a fan.

have you seen her dressed in blue?
I discovered this song on a Stones' greatest hits album I dug up in an antique store. I fell in love with the piano at the beginning. It instantly draws you into the song. The lyrics are beautiful as well. What female wouldn't want to be compared to a rainbow which is full of vibrant color?
Maybe if I knew this song existed at age 11 then I wouldn't have quit my piano lessons :)

First Blog
I decided it could be fun and rewarding to start a blog even if no one else reads it. I think this is a good place to collect my thoughts. I'm obsessed with music, so it will be an important part of this blog.
Today, I was watching a documentary on Glastonbury Festival. I'd really like to attend sometime. I think it must be an amazing experience to stand among thousands of other people and celebrate music.
It seems like festival goers are able to escape from the pressures of everyday life and truly enjoy themselves for a few days in an almost magical world of fun. (Alright, maybe I'm starting to romanticize a tiny bit. I do realize there must be a down side to the festival like the rain and famous mud.) However, I think everybody needs to sit back and pull away from the world they're caught up in every once in a while. Clear your head, and look at the big picture. Obtain a fresh perspective and remember what life is really supposed to be about and what makes you happy.
I think I'll leave you with this video. One of my favorite artists, singing one of my favorite songs. It actually gives me chills when the audience joins in. I was lucky enough to have seen the legend himself when he toured America in 2005. He has to be one of the greatest showmen in existence.
